About the United Acupuncture Association (UAA)
The United Acupuncture Association (UAA) is a Southern California-based non-profit professional organization. We are dedicated to uniting Licensed Acupuncturists across California to collectively advance the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and advocate for the professional rights of its practitioners.
Core Functions & Objectives
Academic Exchange & Continuing Education We regularly host high-quality TCM academic seminars and Continuing Education (CEU) courses. These programs assist practitioners in earning the credits required for licensure renewal while continuously refining their clinical skills.
Legal Advocacy & Rights Protection Serving as a vital bridge between acupuncturists and the government, UAA represents the industry before the California Acupuncture Board and state authorities. We actively advocate for an equitable Scope of Practice and fair insurance reimbursement policies.
Community Service & Outreach UAA has a long-standing tradition of organizing free clinics and community events. We aim to promote Chinese medical culture to the public and highlight the critical role of acupuncture in modern public health, particularly in non-pharmacological pain management.
Historical Significance & Professional Network
UAA is one of the most representative TCM organizations in California. Since the early stages of acupuncture legislation in the state, the association has played a pivotal role in collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve the legalization of acupuncture and its inclusion in public health insurance programs like Medi-Cal.
Our membership includes many veteran Chinese-American practitioners with deep roots in California. By maintaining close ties with other professional bodies, such as the American Association of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (AACMA), we have helped build a robust professional support network for TCM in the state.
Industry Influence
Policy Advocacy: Our members remain deeply engaged in industry policy. Many have served in key leadership roles or as board members within the California Acupuncture Board, providing expert counsel during the policy-making process.
Certified Education Provider: As an official provider recognized by the California state government, UAA offers CEU credits that carry high authority and professional recognition.
